Let’s say … you are at a train station. It’s busy, it’s noisy, it’s packed with people, and for whatever reason you have to get the attention of a certain person. This one is in the crowd.

What’s the first thing you do?

You call out their name. Simple, right?

Now, when we talk about marketing, imagine how many marketing messages you see in an average day. You are absolutely bombarded with them. Emails, social media ads, billboards, TV commercials—the list is endless. Cutting through that clutter to capture attention is no easy task. That’s no easy task.

        How do you do that?

Firstly, don't say the exact same thing your competitors are saying. If you blend in, you’ll be ignored. You need to differentiate yourself. Saying something unique is crucial.

Secondly, make your message resonate. Speak directly to the prospect’s needs and desires. The key is to make them feel understood. Make them stand up and say ‘’ This is for me ‘’

This connection will make them sit up and pay attention.

Let me give you an example, let’s say you are a chiropractor, probably the best headline will be

‘’ Does your neck hurt?’’

‘’Does your back hurt? ‘’

‘’ Do you feel pain when you get up in the morning? ‘’

You first have to get their attention and make it about them, instead of saying

‘’ We’re the best ‘’

‘’ We’ve been in business for 17 years ’’

‘’ We are honest/We are transparent ‘’

Do you know why marketing is so boring and everyone says roughly the same thing? Because they are scared they will piss someone off. They don’t want to turn anyone away.

Effective marketing requires bravery. It requires understanding your audience and speaking directly to their concerns. It requires you to be bold and different.

Understand the specific problems your audience faces. The more precisely you can identify their problems and desires, the more effectively you can address them. Use the language your audience uses. If they use casual language, mimic that style. If they’re more formal, adapt accordingly.

Emotions drive decisions. Craft your message in a way that prompts an emotional response. Whether it’s relief from pain, joy from a solution, or excitement for a new opportunity, tapping into emotions can make your message memorable.

Vague messages get lost. Specific details about what you offer and how it benefits your audience will capture attention. Instead of saying “We provide quality service,” say “Our service reduces back pain by 50% within the first month.”

Humans are visual creatures. Incorporate striking images, videos, and graphics that reinforce your message. Visuals can often convey a message more quickly and effectively than words alone.

Stories are engaging and relatable. Share customer success stories and case studies,  that illustrate the benefits of your product or service.
